BOSTON BAR FOR $1
If you've ever complained about the housing prices in Vancouver and threatened to leave the city for good maybe now is your chance. Do you have a $1? The town of Boston Bar is offering up two historic CP Rail houses for $1 apiece. There have already been some offers on the two pieces of property but the town has never dealt with anything remotely like this so they are not accepting anything until they can draft an appropriate contract.
The houses are 1,100 square feet on 5,000 square feet of land. They are in rough shape and are in need of major repairs. Being heritage homes the town will want whoever purchases the properties to restore the exteriors to their original glory but you can do whatever you want on the inside. Having had clients of mine restore a heritage home in Vancouver there are a lot of guidelines that have to be followed from paint colour to the type of roof. Not to worry because after you finished you'll have a beautiful home.
If you're thinking of a quick flip I don't the town will be happily interested in your offer. They won't put an restrictions on selling the houses but they are hoping the buyer will be one who wants to live there and be part of the community.
