APPROVED!

Granville - Howe - Pacific

Vancouver City Council has unanimously passed a rezoning application that proposed for a 52-storey tower located next to the Granville St. Bridge referred to as "Beach and Howe".  BIGBjarke Inels Group who is a Danish architectural firm who is known internationally designed this project.  It will be developed by Westbank who are well known for several developments in Vancouver.

This development will consist of a 52-storey tower with a 10-storey podium plus 2 separate 6-storey triangular buildings.  The tower will be built on a triangular lot so due to the required set backs it will rise in the shape of a triangle until it is high enough to grow into 4 sides making this one of the most unique buildings in Vancouver if not the most.  Approximately 600 homes, approx. 100 for rental, ample bike storage and parking for residents looks to be fine.

If you're thinking that a triangular building or even twisting building is unheard of don't forget about the great Arthur Erickson and "The Erickson" (amazing) and also one of his designs before his passing that we will see soon enough "Trump Hotel and Tower".

The Public Realm aspect of this development could be spectacular.  Underneath the bridge they will develop an area approximately 30,500 sq.ft. that can accommodate crowds from 700-2800 people.  Examples of what this space will have and offer are retail, concerts, cultural events, contemporary art, digital projection, artful lighting and more.  This will be something to see!

There are quite a few places you can learn about this development and I've sourced out a few and noticed that some information varies so if you see something here that isn't the same as what you've heard or read please know the numbers are approximate and design ideas and features can change.  I do think this will be a great development to follow.

If you live in the area now or want a lot more information I suggest you click here:

If you'd like to be kept up-to-date on this development or if you think you'd be interested in purchasing one please let me know.  Sales would still be a ways out but it's always good to be in the know.

Finally an interesting architectural building that stands out from the rest of Vancouver's boring towers.
